Maria Yee is a lifestyle design company that fuses modern aesthetic with handcrafted construction. The company focuses on environmental responsibility through a variety of sustainable practices. Their solid hardwood furniture uses responsibly grown and harvested trees, and many pieces are crafted using rapidly renewable bamboo.
No nails or screws are used on these gorgeous pieces of furniture. Instead, the company has refined the traditional technique of breathing joinery and tailored it to the modern manufacturing environment.

Choosing a high quality grade of leather when purchasing a new sofa is extremely important! At EWF Modern, we believe in providing only the best leather options for our clients. Below is some information about the leather grades we provide on all the sofas in our showroom to help you choose what is right for you.
Full-grain: This type of leather is minimally treated and is the most natural in look and texture. It showcases the depth of character in each particular hide.
Top-grain: This leather is lightly sanded or buffed to smooth out imperfections in each hide for a more consistent look in grain over an entire piece of furniture.
Aniline dyed: This is the lightest treatment available for leather and uses no pigment in the process. It simply enhances the color of the natural hide and is typically used on full-grain leather.
Semi-aniline dyed: This level of treatment still lets some of the natural characteristics shine through but uses a light pigment to even out coloring. A thin topcoat is also applied to decrease fading and help with soil-resistance.

Huppe is a family-owned contemporary furniture business based in Quebec, and we are excited to add their gorgeous pieces to our showroom! We are currently hosting a few hand selected items from their fabulous Swan Collection. The eco-conscious company harvests their Black American Walnut wood entirely from stands of trees that have died of natural causes. The Swan collection is available in a variety of walnut finishes and micro textured lacquered finishes.

When it comes to sofa construction there are several seating options. Most furniture seeking a sleek, clean contemporary look uses Pirelli webbing or sinuous no-sag spring construction. The oldest system, 8 way hand tied coil suspension, is rarely used in modern furnishings. Pirelli is a no steel, lightweight webbing that is attached directly to the frame and woven together providing a firm European style seat that offers plenty of support.
Sinuous no-sag springs are composed of tempered steel that is placed in a zig-zig pattern to help distribute tension. These springs provide a softer, more flexible seat.

To clean, wipe the furniture with a dampened, soft, clean cloth.
An occasional cleaning with a reliable product (i.e. Murphy’s Oil Soap) will enhance the fine non-toxic factory finish. AVOID oil, wax, or silicone-based products that might build up over time and attract dust.
If a scratch occurs, use a good quality wood wax or furniture stain marker that closely matches the color of your furniture.
